Department of Industries Rules in Favour of Hilton Worldwide Manage Limited

The Department of Industries has issued a decisive ruling in favour of Hilton Worldwide Manage Limited regarding the unauthorized use of its registered trademarks by Hilton Academy Pvt. Ltd. The decision reinforces the company’s exclusive rights over the globally recognized Hilton family of marks, including “HILTON,” “DOUBLE TREE BY HILTON,” “HAMPTON BY HILTON,” “HILTON GARDEN INN,” and several associated logos.

Hilton Worldwide Manage Limited filed a complaint stating that Hilton Academy Pvt. Ltd. was using the “Hilton” name and related branding without permission, creating a likelihood of confusion among consumers and falsely implying affiliation with the internationally renowned hospitality group.

Following a detailed review, the Department of Industries confirmed that the academy’s use of the Hilton name and marks was unauthorized and misleading. The Department ordered Hilton Academy Pvt. Ltd. to immediately cease using all Hilton-related trademarks across its operations, marketing materials, and digital platforms. The ruling further prohibits the academy from using any mark identical or deceptively similar to Hilton’s registered trademarks in the future.

This ruling underscores the importance of trademark protection and ensures that consumers can clearly distinguish genuine Hilton-affiliated services from unauthorized entities.
